The soft cream quilt creates a beautifully quiet backdrop, while the front and lower sleeves are pieced from an extremely old patchwork quilt, rich with mismatched fabrics, handwork, visible stitching and years of wear. That older quilt came to me with significant worn areas, fraying, fading and patches. Rather than disguising its age, I chose to
